Three centuries of Tarlant Savoir-Faire
Jean-Mary, who took a professional diploma at the Avize Champagne academy is a winemaker who is passionate about his vineyards and his wines. Above all, a man of the soil, he looks after his vines with vigilance because "a great wine demands high class grapes". He monitors, masters and applies techniques which respect the terroir and the varieties, thanks to his extreme competence in viticulture. The signature and characteristics of Tarlant Champagne reflect his humility and wine-tasting ability.
Before joining the Estate, Benoît visited many different winegrowing regions world-wide while studying for his master's at the OIV (International Wine Office). Open-minded and cultivated, and as an inheritor of the precious legacy of knowledge of previous winemaking generations, his style of winemaking demonstrates his rigour, his passion and his avid exploration of taste. With weather, terroir and fruit transcended by his winemaking choices, he wants each wine to express its very essence. The audacity of his experiments adds a new dimension to the edifice that is Tarlant.
Centenarian Georges still likes to observe the development of the grapes and to come and see the harvest. He also shares his feeling during in-family tastings before blending.
Jean-Mary takes all the decisions concerning vines and the vineyards with professionalism. Through his hard work, determination and passion, Champagne Tarlant now has the reputation, at home and world-wide, of being one of the most eminent of Champagne Houses. His experience has made of him a leader in all that matters concerning respect for, and the protection of, the environment.
His wife Micheline welcomes and organises visits to the vineyards and winery and, during tutored tastings, presents Tarlant Champagnes with passion. She looks after Champagne Tarlant customer relations with all their customers and friends who want to discover the Champagne way of life.
Benoit has started working in the family business as a representative the 12th generation of Tarlant winemakers. He looks after the development of new markets for the House of Tarlant, as well as involving himself in winery work.
